Speaker: Doug Miles, AIIM:  Did you know that over 70% of organizations have made no plans or provision for long-term archiving of electronic records, with no policies for migrating to new media, translating formats, or virtualization of applications? Join us for a discussion of the state of electronic records management—learn about trends and how they will affect your organization (or chortle in glee at the thought of your competitors following some of the “worst practices” we’ll describe).

Ediscovery. Risk. Email. Tweets? Lost data. By now, everyone understands that maintaining control of vital corporate records is a key element of organizational success and minimizing risk. AIIM research reveals current trends and points toward important issues for 2010 and beyond.  Discover the trends that will affect managing records in the coming years and get ahead of the curve.

Even though not all content is an official record, all content needs to be managed and centrally governed. While the findings do indicate that management of electronic records lags behind that of paper records, an encouraging number of organizations are homogenizing their electronic and physical policies and practices. Notes about our chapter & website...

Having just received our Chapter Charter in May, we are asking for everyone's input and participation in the coming months as our Chapter grows and creates opportunities for Western Colorado records managers, practitioners, and professionals to learn, network, collaborate, and share information!

For 2009-10, we are working on several educational and networking events!
